Bev McArthur is Western Victorian ‘Through and Through’.

Bev was born in Terang and has lived on the McArthur family beef farm near Camperdown for the past 35 years with her husband Stewart. Her three children attended local schools in Bookaar, Noorat, Warrnambool and Geelong before their tertiary education in Melbourne, the USA and France.

Bev was elected to the Corangamite Shire in 2016 and has helped ensure the Council is debt free, enjoys the largest expenditure on roads in the Shire’s history and has a ‘back to basics’ approach to expenditure and governance.

Bev has been a dedicated, loyal member of the Liberal Party for 45 years. She has served the Party at all levels, from Branch Secretary to Country Vice President. Over this time, Bev has championed the value of small government, individual liberty with responsibility and reward for effort.

Bev was elected to the Legislative Council in November 2018, for the Western Victoria Region. She delivered her Maiden Speech on the 19th of December 2018.

Bev is the Deputy Chair of the Electoral Matters Committee, which conducts inquiries into the operation of state elections. The Committee is currently investigating an Inquiry into the Conduct of the 2018 Victorian State Election and an Inquiry into the Impact of Social Media on Elections and Electoral Administration.

Bev sits on the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee, which examines the compatibility of new Bills introduced to the Victorian Parliament with the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities.

Bev sits on the Economy and Infrastructure Committee which is currently investigating an Inquiry into the Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Act 2017 Reforms, an Inquiry into Expanding Melbourne's Free Tram Zone and an Inquiry into the Increase in Victoria’s Road Toll. The Committee recently concluded its Inquiry into the Impact of Animal Rights Activism on Victorian Agriculture, in which Bev and other Coalition committee members dissented from the Committee in publishing a minority report.

Bev is also a participating member on the Environment and Planning Committee for the Inquiry into Nuclear Prohibition.
