CHO And Dan Need To Get Off Our Backs
Western Victoria MP Bev McArthur has said that the Chief Health Officer’s insistence that regional Victoria cannot fully ease restrictions was shameful and misguided.
In today’s daily press conference, Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton told the media, "We do have to move together, but we're going to be separating those risks as much as possible until metro Melbourne's at a point when there isn't that risk of seeding with regional Victoria.”
In other words, restrictions in regional Victoria will not be further relaxed until metropolitan Melbourne lowers its case numbers further, probably to zero.
Mrs McArthur said, “This is outrageous and demonstrative of the CHO and Premier’s intentions to never relinquish control over anyone’s lives, but especially those in country Victoria, if they can possibly avoid it."
"Their next excuse for not getting their boot off our back will be that there aren’t deemed to be enough tests being conducted."
"Mind you, court action seemed to quickly end their nonsensical curfew!”
“Regional Victoria has virtually no cases – the Government now needs to get out of our lives, off our backs and stop sending more businesses broke, more jobs lost, more lives shattered and more communities alienated.”
“It’s time the Government called a spade and spade and were open about the fact that they’re pursuing elimination, as the former Health Minister admitted over Twitter.”
“We could end up in a situation where regional Victoria and most of metropolitan Melbourne has 0 active cases, but restrictions will remain in place because of the CHO’s plan of singing kumbaya and ‘moving together’.”
“It’s all nonsense and it’s time the Melbournian Government left everyone outside the tram tracks alone.”
