Masks On The Make
Bev McArthur MP has used a Members Statement in Parliament to congratulate Western Victorians on their wonderful efforts to help the community prepare for Stage 3 restrictions which require mandatory mask wearing in rural Victoria.
Mrs McArthur recently collected handmade masks from Michael Reicha from Reicha’s Drapery in Terang where Michael is transferring the money raised from the sale of the masks to various local charities including Cooinda, which provides services for people with a disability.
Mrs McArthur said, “These Terang masks are made by Dorothy Whiting, who in her 80’s is at the front line of keeping her community safe and supporting worthy causes”.
Further evidence of this fantastic country spirit can be found at the Terang P-12 school; whose students are to be congratulated for hitting the sewing machines to help meet the growing demand.
“This spirit of generosity across Western Victoria is not surprising and an example of a ‘get on with it and solve a problem’ attitude which so defines a strong country community like ours”.
“My heartfelt thanks go to Dorothy, Michael Reicha and the students at Terang P-12 and all other helpful and generous people across the Region who are doing whatever they can to assist their communities through this COVID crisis.”
